Step-by-Step Setup: Mobile Express for Microsoft Dynamics CRM

Mobile Express for Microsoft Dynamics CRM provides a lightweight, browser-based mobile interface. It allows users to access critical CRM data on the go without installing a dedicated application. Follow this step-by-step guide to configure and optimize Mobile Express for your organization. Prerequisites and Requirements

Before beginning the configuration, ensure your environment meets the necessary technical baselines. CRM Version: Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011, 2013, or 2015.

User Security: Active CRM user account with appropriate security roles.

Supported Browsers: Microsoft Edge, Safari, Chrome, or Android browser.

Network Access: External HTTPS URL (IFD) configured for internet access. Step 1: Enable Entities for Mobile Express

You must explicitly enable each entity you want to display on mobile devices.

Log into Microsoft Dynamics CRM with System Administrator privileges.

Navigate to Settings > Customizations > Customize the System. Expand Entities in the left navigation pane.

Click on the specific entity you want to enable (e.g., Account, Contact, or Lead).

In the General tab, scroll down to the Outlook & Mobile section. Check the box for Mobile Express. Save your changes. Step 2: Configure the Mobile Express Form

Mobile Express uses a dedicated form layout optimized for smaller screens. Under the expanded entity, click on Forms. Locate and double-click the form of type Mobile Express.

Use the form editor to drag and drop fields into the desired display order.

Keep the layout to a single column to ensure readability on small screens. Click Save and Close when the layout is complete. Step 3: Publish Customizations

Changes will not appear on mobile devices until they are published. Click Information at the top of the customization window. Click the Publish All Customizations button. Wait for the publishing confirmation message to appear. Step 4: Configure Security Roles

Control which users can access the mobile interface via CRM security permissions. Navigate to Settings > Administration > Security Roles. Select the specific security role you want to edit. Click on the Business Management tab. Scroll down to the Privacy Related Privileges section. Ensure the Dynamics CRM for Mobile privilege is enabled. Click Save and Close. Step 5: Access the Mobile Express URL

Users can now log into the interface using their mobile web browser. Open the web browser on the mobile device. Enter your standard CRM organization URL.

Append /m to the end of the URL (e.g., https://contoso.com). Enter standard CRM login credentials when prompted.
